Condes de Caria is the restoration of an 18th-century palace on the former Quinta das Laranjeiras, once a country estate on the edge of Lisbon. In this beautiful project, all elements of heritage value have been kept, including stonework, the roofline and mural paintings in the kitchen. All things new have been built in contemporary materials, to a standard that matches the original craftsmanship. The historic gardens have been restored to their original layout, with the existing trees and decorative features kept in place. The estate's original swimming pool and solarium have been brought back to use, alongside a contemporary gym pavilion, an aromatic garden and a belvedere. The development comprises two blocks set within a private condominium. Apartment B – 3-bedroom duplex 323 m² gross internal area, plus 84 m² of private outdoor space, set over floors 0 and 1. On the ground floor, a 71 m² living room with ceiling mouldings opens onto the kitchen. Here the original frescoes were uncovered during the works and repainted by hand from the surviving fragments.
